AN ASIDE: In the early 2000 when The Westerville Inn was still operating, my wife and I stayed there while I was interviewed for a position at Otterbein College. Although I was offered a position at the college, I ultimately decided to turn it down and we instead ended up in Las Vegas, of all places, where we found jobs in the casino industry. I became a AML Compliance Specialist that required executing the daily Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) audit process for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance, including ensuring all appropriate and required documentation is received and reviewed; identifies audit issues and summarizes findings in an clear and concise manner; recognizes patterns and communicates detailed information to management for resolution or further analysis; and files reports timely and accurately among other duties. My wife became a Timeshare Sales Representative for the Westgate Resorts tasked with marketing and selling timeshares to prospective clients. She became very successful, ultimately obtaining a Real Estate License and then opening up her own Real Estate business. Her clients love her since she goes well beyond just selling homes. She recommends contractors, designers, landscapers, along with suggestions for the best catering services and even the best water delivery companies for spring water. Many Las Vegas residents, us included, have bottled water delivery every several weeks or every month. FYI: My wife suggests Tahoe Springs Water. If you live in Las Vegas check them out.
Ahh..I digress. I just wanted to mention my experience at the Westerville Inn. It was lovely when we visited almost twenty years ago. I loved their gardens and the history of the actual Inn. Unfortunately the Westerville Inn is no longer in operation as I learned when we were taking our son around to visit colleges. I knew we would be driving through Ohio as we did a sweep through Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio looking at Calvin University, Wheaton College, Otterbein College, University of Michigan, among others. I tried to contact The Westerville Inn but I received a recorded message saying that the phone was disconnected.
